In keeping with the rest of its SUV range, Skoda is giving the Kamiq compact crossover the Scoutline treatment and will officially reveal the car at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show this March. The trim level introduces exterior design changes that give the Kamiq more of an off-road-ready look, though if you're expecting all-wheel drive you may be in for disappointment, as it will remain a front-wheel-drive setup.
What it does get is black wheel arch liners and an aluminium-effect strip across the front bumper, along with a silver rear diffuser-look to the back bumper. That silver theme carries through to the door mirror housings and the roof rails, with Skoda adding Scoutline badges to the front wings and chrome window frame surrounds on the lower sections. It will get 17-inch 'Braga' alloy wheels as standard with buyers having the option of upgrading to 18-inch 'Crater' wheels. Sadly for fans of the 'steelie' look, steel wheels will not be available. The Scoutline version will feature full LED taillights too.
Setting the Kamiq Scoutline apart from the other models in the range, the interior comes with ash wood effect decorative inserts around the dashboard and the option of a dark brushed finish. The pedals get an aluminium design that ties in with the chrome-style air vents. Unique Scoutline upholstery consists of a breathable ThermoFlux fabric with Suedia microfibre, which makes it seem even more outdoorsy. The multifunction steering wheel, handbrake lever and gear shifter get a more traditional leather covering. Customers can order an optional black roof lining.
The Skoda Kamiq Scoutline will be available to order with the choice of three petrol engines and one diesel with power outputs ranging from 90- to 150hp. In other markets, Skoda will sell a natural-gas-powered version using its 'G-Tec' engine, but that's not coming to Ireland. Following its first public appearance at the Geneva Motor Show, the Kamiq Sportline will go into production in June.
