New Opel Corsa arrives in Ireland

New Opel Corsa arrives in Ireland

The new Opel Corsa has arrived in Ireland and Carzone was at the official launch in Dublin to see how it has evolved for 2020. The new sixth generation model is the first brand new Corsa in over a decade and it carries on from the first Corsa which was launched in 1982.

The new Corsa has sharp new styling to stand out apart from its rivals, which include the Volkswagen Polo, Ford Fiesta and Toyota Yaris. It is significantly lighter than before which results in more efficiency and increased economy across the range, while the interior has also been updated to incorporate Opel's latest and greatest tech.

The new Corsa will be offered with a range of powertrains including 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and a new electric Corsa-e model. The range includes three specifications, starting with the value for money SC, the sportier SRi and a range-topping Elite model.

The Corsa-e will be Opel’s first volume electric model with a 337 kilometre range, 100Kw fast-charging capabilities and 136 horsepower. Although the Corsa-e won’t arrive in Ireland until April and pricing has yet to be confirmed, it is expected that entry prices will start from circa €35,000, excluding government grants. Prices for the new Opel Corsa will start from €17,975, and Carzone looks forward to bringing you a full review of the new model.

James Brooks, Managing Director at Leeson Motors, Opel Importer in Ireland said: “The arrival of the award-winning, all-new Corsa marks a new departure for the Opel brand in Ireland. It is the first new Opel model to market since Opel Ireland was acquired by the Gowan Group and internationally, it is the first new Opel model produced under the the PSA Group. It represents a huge opportunity to us, as the first new model in what promises to be an exciting produce pipeline over the next eighteen months.”
