Carzone test drives the incredible Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS. With the body style that offers open-top sensations of a convertible it also maintains the feel and comfort that you'd expect from a coupe.
The 911 boasts a Top speed of 188mph and 0-62mph in 4.7secs (manual) / 4.3secs (PDK)
"The Porsche 911 Targa has the body style that offers the open top sensations of a convertible, but maintains the majority of feel and comfort that you’d expect from a coupé. Not forgetting probably one of the most balletic roof mechanisms I think I have ever seen. To open or close this roof takes just twenty seconds when the car is stationary, and it lets you take full advantage of that flat six soundtrack, it howls.
This is the GTS trim level, GTS being an abbreviation for Gran Turismo Sport and there are a few upgrades on here. You get smoked front light lenses, black alloys, black venting on the engine, wider rear haunches because it’s four wheel drive as well as a power upgrade to 424 break horse power and 324 pounds foot of torque. Porsche says the GTS is about performance naturally, but it’s also about comfort and everyday usability and this is where the car really excels. And it’s in the same vain why we’d suggest that you go away from the seven speed manual transmission and opt for the seven speed PDK automatic because it’s quicker to shift, it feels seamless and weirdly, it now actually feels more precise to use than the manual.
True, enthusiasts are still going to opt for the coupé body style because it has a bit more rigidity, a bit more finesse, but for the majority of people, the Targa could be the best half way house between a coupé and a convertible. "
