Worth importing a Golf?

Worth importing a Golf?

Is it worth importing a golf over from northern ireland?

Hi Joe,

There's no simple answer to that, I'm afraid. You'll need to do the maths on a specific car. On the plus side, you might find a car more exactly suiting your requirements, at a decent price, with a high level of equipment. On the negative side, you'll need to travel to see the car and then potentially feel bound to buy it, even if it isn't perfect. When calculating how much VRT you will pay on registration in Ireland, make sure you take into account the value of extras fitted to the car and, very important this since January 1st this year, don't forget that you'll have to pay the NOx levy tax on top. This alone can add thousands of Euro more to the cost of importing - especially on older diesel cars.
